Fehmida to attend Commonwealth Speakers moot
Speaker of the National Assembly Dr Fehmida Mirza will attend 21st Conference of Speakers and Presiding Officers of the Commonwealth (CSPOC) to be held from January 7-12 in Port of Spain.The conference, being hosted by the Trinidad and Tobago Parliament, will ponder and determine the agenda and venue for organization of CSPOC, 2013, venues, dates and topics for biannual conferences of Commonwealth Parliamentary Association besides reviewing rules and other matters concerning the organization and conduct of Conferences.

Dr Fehmida Mirza, who was scheduled to leave for Port of Spain on Wednesday, will also meet speakers and presiding officers of the Commonwealth member states on the sidelines of conference and discuss matters related to enhancement of bilateral relations between their respective parliaments.

  On Wednesday Ms Sherry Rehman called on Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani here at the PM House and discussed matters pertaining to her diplomatic assignment in USA. Ms Sherry Rehman, who is leaving for USA soon to assume her diplomatic assignment there, sought guidance from the Prime Minister. The Prime Minister said that she should espouse the cause of Pakistan’s diplomatic interests in USA keeping in view the recommendations of the Parliamentary Committee on National Security to be adopted by the Parliament. Prime Minister Gilani reposed his full confidence in her and added that she would prove herself worthy of the challenging assignment.
